The United States Staffing Association is celebrating the successful hosting of its inaugural Leadership Summit just concluded in Atlanta, Georgia. The 2-day calendar was busy with networking and educational events focused on the issues facing owners and managers of search and staffing firms.

On Wednesday a group headed out to Atlanta National Golf Course for a charity Golf Outing benefiting Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Kevin Johnson of Elite Staffing carried away the honors with the best score. Congrats to Kevin!

A welcome reception was hosted at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta where Barb Bruno held a Q&A that was filled with great conversation and collaboration among the attendees. The informal setting of the Grand Hyatt’s Onyx Lounge created an atmosphere conducive to close interaction and personal conversations among the attendees.

Thursday’s main event at the Buckhead Club included a jam-packed agenda starting off with a keynote address by Barb Bruno discussing what it takes to flourish in the search and staffing industry and filling the presentation with solid recommendations for the attendees to take back to their office and implement in their organization. Next up was a highly anticipated interactive HR Panel emceed by Barb Bruno and made up of HR professionals Rhonda Beard and Mike O'Neill of Bench Builders and Catherine Gunnells of Accenture. The panel fielded questions that search and staffing owners had about candidates, the hiring process, and more.

Everyone then enjoyed a networking lunch where they could visit with other attendees and realize the benefits of the connections made by an in-person event.  The afternoon portion of the summit was kicked off by Dave Adams of CareerLink Network discussing how to prep your candidate for interviews for better differentiation of the candidate and your firm from the competition in the interview process. Henry Glickel of Sales Recruiters took us on a tour through the evolution of the search and staffing industry and the trends he expects to see over the coming decade. Rick Loss of myBasePay discussed how to protect your firm during times of financial uncertainty. Lastly, Samantha Vinsant of Adams, Evens & Ross spoke on knowing what is in your contract and knowing what you are asking of your clients and what they are asking of you before sending or signing the contract.

To wrap up the event Barb Bruno circulated among the attendees and asked each attendee to share what was their best take-away from the event and to describe what they were most excited about implementing in their office over the next few weeks so that it becomes a habit for them and their team.
